How Do You Express Your Feelings?
I’m talking about those initial feelings when you meet someone and you are getting to know them. Suddenly, you feel things in your body. Your brain signals to you “hey.. there is something special here.” You know those sensations? What do you do? How do you act? What is the first thing you have the urge to do?
We all feel those butterflies when we start to like someone. Sometimes the feeling is so intense. It’s hard to understand because it was not meant to be understood, rather, felt.
When you feel those intense feelings you are always met with a choice. To allow yourself to be vulnerable and let the other know how you feel about them or keep it to yourself. If you were to allow yourself to express your feelings, your instinct is immediately to get closer physically to that person and without much thought you lean in and kiss them.
The kiss.
Oh that kiss has been known to move mountains, melt ice and stir up more than one can imagine. Can you handle what happens after that kiss? What about the reaction from the other person? Are they feeling the same?
It hasn’t always worked out as you see in the movies, right? Yeah. If you have fallen in love a few times in your life, you would know what that means.
That moment, that first kiss is always so special. There are no words to describe it. But the closest could be bliss. Indeed, it’s like being in heaven for a split second.
It’s when time stands still. Nothing exists other than you and that one person. You forget your name, where you live, how old you are, your family, your friends, and anything you identify with. It’s just you and them in one magical moment connecting, feeling, experiencing something bigger than your mind can comprehend.
And this is one of the ways LOVE begins between two people. It’s not always sparks in the air and dreamy fairytale head in the clouds.
Sometimes it’s a feeling developed over time with regular interaction. And one day, it hits you. You don’t know when it happened or how. You just know you adore this person and the hesitation begins: “should I tell them or not? Should I make a move? But what if they don’t feel the same? What if I humiliate myself? What if they reject me? What if they stop talking to me after?”
The million questions, doubts, fears and scenarios play in our minds. The need to be in control of the situation. The need to have everything work out just as we planned it. Looking for perfection. Fearing disappointment. At times leading us to freeze and not take any action out of fear of the outcome.
The universal language of love is sensory rather than linguistic. Regardless of your culture or language you speak, the one common factor is the way you love another. How you communicate and express your love comes so naturally to you. There is not much thinking involved. You feel it, you can’t help but want to express it. That’s our human nature. Whether you hold yourself back for reasons specific to your circumstances or you go for it in full speed, that’s another story.
